Lower or upper blepharoplasty

The indications that most often refer patients to a blepharoplasty procedure consist in an increase in the skin of the upper eyelid that rests on the lashes, or in a cutaneous excess of the lower one typical of aging. Based on the patient’s indications and expectations, the intervention can only concern the upper eyelid (Upper Blepharoplasty), only the lower eyelid (Lower Blepharoplasty) or both (Upper-Lower Blepharoplasty). In Upper Blepharoplasty the incision is hidden inside the folds of the eyelid, and through this it is possible to remove excess skin and, where necessary, excess fat.

In Lower Blepharoplasty, however, through an incision hidden under the lashes it is possible to eliminate the annoying “bags”, and pull the skin upwards, giving the eye a more fresh and youthful effect. In young patients, who do not have a surplus of skin, it is possible to remove the “bags” through a small incision in the inner part of the eyelid, without any visible scar (Transcongijunctival Blepharoplasty).

The intervention is performed under local anesthesia, with or without the use of a small sedation, according to the patient’s preferences.

The discharge takes place during the day and the ecchymoses (small bruises) generally disappear 5-10 days after the operation.
